Seminar - the Origins of the New Deal - Friday March 28

Hi all:

You have been divided into teams for the debate on Friday, and be sure to have read the handout - at the very minimum the position you are taking:

Either:
FDR was the only architect of the New Deal

OR

Hoover was an unfairly maligned President who contributed to the development of the New Deal

Please read the poems by Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen, and Claude McKay for next class - also be sure to have read pages 696-700 from the text book.

We will be finishing off the discussion of the women's suffrage movement and then move onto the cultural influences of the "Roaring 20s".

Please find in the links on the right a pdf of a chapter on the history of Feminism for 3/19. Read only pages 1-7. We will finish the rest of the chapter when we look at the Women's Liberation Movement. 

Re-organization of Unit 9

Due to snow days, Winter Carnival, etc., the following changes have been made to the Unit 9 Calendar:

March 4 - Progressive Review and Election of 1812
March 6 - Woodrow Wilson and WWI
March 11 - Seminar - WWI as a Progressive War
March 13 - Unit Exam - DBQ on Progressivism

Please be sure to read the packet for seminar - it is long but very good chapter from Kennedy's Over There, an excellent read on the role of the US in WWI. It is long, but I have given you extra time to get through it.
